Decisions, decisions. When you are on a cruise there are tour packages for every port. The average about €60 which is pretty expensive. Today we decided just to walk into Corsica as the ship docks right in the heart of the small town. I learned that Napoleon was born in Corsica and his home is now a very small museum.
Mmmm- that we didn’t go to. The city has an Italian museum with an impressive art collection of Italian masters but-mmmm we didn’t go there either. This little town has great shops, an impressive farmers market and a local art collective.
Red coral is plentiful here and there are high end jewelry stores with beautiful coral creations.
However, what I also learned is that Corsica resents their rule by France and the shops are full of rebellious souvenirs. Their national symbol is a pirate and although they have French licence plates, they have the pirate symbol on them. We found a Che Guevara t shirt with Corsica written on it as well as a t shirt with a map of the islands cities were the French names were crossed out and replaced with Corsican names.
