Arrived in Rome at 7am. This was our first early day. We purchased an all day package which included a shuttle from the ship into Rome- 1 1/2 hours that dropped us off at the colosseum. Massive line ups to get in so we just soaked in the view from the outside- imagined the massive Roman sporting events, took pictures then boarded the bus again over to the Vatican City. We walked in St Peters Square – visited a cathedral but again, a massive line up to get inside the Vatican. The bus took us back to the coliseum and we caught the shuttle back to the ship. Busy day- pretty hard to do much in Rome in one day with that many crowds.

When we were at the coliseum, we noticed children’s art lining the fence all the way around the perimeter. It was a world peace event and we saw many people in Peace Run tshirts
