A new chapter. This year, my husband Stan, daughter Harlei and sister-in-law Sheila are returning to the land of our ancestors, County Kerry, Ireland. I am descended from the Hagarty’s, William and Mary who arrived in Canada between 1846 and 1847 from Ballylongford. Stan and Sheila are Kelliher’s from Tralee. Simon immigrated in the early 1900’s from a town 17 km from Hagarty turf. Who knew that 2 Canadians should marry and later find out that their ancestors were from within walking distance of each other.
We will fly to Dublin, rent a car and work our way through the countryside to Galloway, Tralee, Cork and beyond. Looking forward to no itinerary- just soaking up the culture and geography of Ireland!
